Colour doppler at week 34

We saw you today our little one. I was so happy to see a complete new face this time. You looked much chubbier with a lot of weight put on. You were moving your mouth as always sucking the amniotic fluid which seems to be your favorite pastime. Your dad was delighted to see you. You were all curled up and it seemed there is no more room for you in my womb. Your head was up and legs rolled up to your face, a typical breech position. It was most probably the last ultrasound as everything appeared normal. Now i have an appt with doctor on 12th Feb and then your birth date will be decided. I am so very eager to see you now! We will most probably opt for either 3rd or 6th March for delivery. On 6th march you will complete 38 weeks. It is a very auspicious day too as it is Mahashivratri on that day.

———————————————————————————————

As 34 weeks is a milestone in my pregnancy, i thought i better post your weekly update today. So here it goes:

Your amazing baby is on the move! They’ve been riding fairly high in your stretched-out womb till now (while kindly compressing your poor internal organs), but now they’re planning on making the big move to your pelvis this week. If you haven’t noticed it already, you’ll be feeling the weight shift that signals that your baby is most likely out of breech position, with their head now resting on your pubic bone. In liver news: although not quite fully formed, your little miracle’s liver is now capable of processing a certain amount of waste. In general, most of your child’s prenatal physical development is pretty much up to snuff and ready for the outside world. Naturally, further weight gain is expected—so you’re still not at maximum capacity despite probably feeling like you definitely are maxed out.

And how’s mom doing? Obviously the big change for you is the notable weight shift (known as “lightening” or “engagement”). Now that your baby is resting deeper in your pelvis, you may find yourself walking as if you’re carrying a watermelon between your legs. Yes dear, you’re officially “waddling” these days. Try to comfort Now that your baby is resting deeper in your pelvis, you may find yourself walking as if you’re carrying a watermelon between your legs yourself with this thought: it’s nearly over. Soon, you’ll just have to carry your adorable little watermelon in your arms. And in a rare spate of good news: this weight shift means you can breathe easier now that your lungs aren’t compressed. The not-so-good news, it’s a trade off: (we’ll wait till you’re back from the restroom) this new position has your poor bladder even more squished than before. We’d recommend writing your bladder little love poems to convince it not to leave you altogether, but unfortunately bladders don’t speak English (only Italian love poems will do).

If you’ve recently noticed some less-than-appealing itchy red bumps on your belly (and possibly around your thighs and belly), you’ve got yourself a harmless but not fun round of pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP if your don’t have the patience for the full name). If you feel itchy ALL over your body, that’s different, and you should call your health care practitioner as this could be a liver problem.

At your next check up you can expect your physician to conduct a Group B Streptococci test (GBS), a common bacteria screening. As long as you have a strong immune system, you’re in the clear (one more reason to eat right and exercise!), but your little one is more susceptible to serious health complications (including meningitis, pneumonia and blood infection) if not diagnosed and treated properly—so the tests are good for some peace of mind. Hang in there momma, you’re already a super-star for making it this far!

We have reached 30 weeks milestone my little one!

Well we have come quite far dear! It has been an amazing experience till now apart from some scares early on and i can really say that now i am fully enjoying my pregnancy and might feel a little bad when i lose my cute bump at your birth! You are kicking and punching me quite strongly now. Lately i have been feeling a lot of rib pain on the left side and was wondering that your head is down and your feet are up so when you kick it hurts in my ribs. But the ultrasound last saturday cleared my doubts. You are in a breech position and your feet  are all curled up to your head so that everytime you decide to move my pain starts. The doctor told me that you are gonna have a tall baby as the femur length at 29 weeks was already measuring more than 31 weeks! We were already guessing that though! Today i have my OB appointment which will become bi-monthly from now on. Let’s see what doc has to say on your development! You are weighing 1.5 kg (a little over 3 pounds 6 ounces) and at birth you have to be at least twice of this weight or more! So you better be on a weight gain spree dear and come at full term!

Belly pics @ 28 weeks!

Hello little one!

How have you been all this while…your moma has been busy lately. Both of us have been busy lately researching for a cot for you. We went to mothercare www.mothercare.com, a UK brand which has its branches in India as well. They have pretty decent pine wood cribs, cots and cot beds but on the expensive side. Then there is our friendly neighborhood Lifestyle www.lifestylestores.com, which also keeps Cots. They are made of compressed wood, not so sturdy enough but in a reasonable price range. We also discovered another infant furniture shop in south bombay, marine lines, called as Ideal Home www.idealhome.com. They have very sturdy cribs and cots. The wood is high quality teak wood and prices are on the higher side. We were almost finalizing the cot but i on visiting the store the second time i realized that the finishing was not that good. The hinges were visible and there were too many sharp edges for the child to get hurt. Secondly the dirt and dust in their store put me off! They claim to have clients like Bacchans and Ambanis but dont even care to keep their store clean. Hygiene is most important at a place which mostly pregnant women will be visiting. Anyways we said them a polite goodbye. We would bring the cot home in new year now.

Recently you had a growth spurt baby. Today your dad took some belly pics. I am posting them today as milestone pics.

Third trimester!!!

Hello little one,

We are nearing the third trimester…i can’t believe it!!…and you are doing great! Moma just wanted to have a word with you…

As you know we could not attend your mama’s wedding and i was sad for quite sometime and could not write to you. Your dad was there and it was great fun. But my doc decided against my travelling so i had to stay back at home. All for you dear!!

These days i am busy preparing place for you in the home. We have just ordered a wardrobe for you from a furniture exhibition. I am searching the whole Net to get a suitable crib for you. I loved the 4 in 1 convertible crib plus changer which can be converted to a toddler bed later but the problem is that it is not available here and the US companies do not ship them internationally. I have got in touch with a store and have requested them to import it for us. Their buying team will do a pros and con analysis and let me know. In India, the separate crib concept has not picked up so much. People want their infants to sleep with them. But i want to build in independence in you early on and am also concerned  that if you sleep with us you might get hurt.

Btw, i have bought lovely clothes for you and making some bed covers myself. I have done embroidery on one and will do appliqué work on the other. Have also bought cute laces which i plan to stitch on to them later.

If you are born after 10 weeks, you will be considered full term!! And i am so excited about this!! Can’t wait to hold you in my arms…

Your dad has to do a delivery registry at the hospital soon. And i have to get my second tetanus shot…and of course to bring in your crib. So these are our pending tasks as of now. Love you dear! GROW BABY GROW!!!

22 weeks!

You are 22 weeks today my dear! It is so nice to feel your kicks more often now. The kicks have become stronger and you seem to indicate your presence when i am involved in any other activity. It seems like you are saying; “Momma, only me nothing else at this time.” Though i am thinking of you most of the time.

——————————————————————————————-

At 22 weeks, this is what is happening in our lives, according to the babycenter newsletter:

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.

How your life’s changing:

You may start to notice stretch marks on your skin as your abdomen expands to accommodate your growing baby. Some pregnant women never get stretch marks, but at least half do. These small streaks of differently textured skin can range from pink to dark brown (depending on your skin color), and they become more apparent as pregnancy progresses. They can appear not only on your tummy, but also on your buttocks, thighs, hips, and breasts. Lotions won’t prevent or eliminate them, but they help with any itching. Also, you may no longer be an “innie” — your navel is flat and may soon pop out. It will revert to its usual shape after birth.

Another interesting skin quirk you may notice during pregnancy is something called vascular spiders. These are little areas of raised, reddish skin, with tiny branches. Commonly found on the face, neck, upper chest, and arms, they’re caused by the higher levels of estrogen in pregnancy, and they usually disappear after delivery.

——————————————————————————————–

I have an appointment today with my OB and she will let me know whether i am fit to travel to your mama’s wedding. Let’s hope for the best. Whatever is her decision, i will happily abide by it. Anything for you dear!
