22 weeks!

You are 22 weeks today my dear! It is so nice to feel your kicks more often now. The kicks have become stronger and you seem to indicate your presence when i am involved in any other activity. It seems like you are saying; “Momma, only me nothing else at this time.” Though i am thinking of you most of the time.

At 22 weeks, this is what is happening in our lives, according to the babycenter newsletter:

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.

How your life’s changing:

You may start to notice stretch marks on your skin as your abdomen expands to accommodate your growing baby. Some pregnant women never get stretch marks, but at least half do. These small streaks of differently textured skin can range from pink to dark brown (depending on your skin color), and they become more apparent as pregnancy progresses. They can appear not only on your tummy, but also on your buttocks, thighs, hips, and breasts. Lotions won’t prevent or eliminate them, but they help with any itching. Also, you may no longer be an “innie” — your navel is flat and may soon pop out. It will revert to its usual shape after birth.

Another interesting skin quirk you may notice during pregnancy is something called vascular spiders. These are little areas of raised, reddish skin, with tiny branches. Commonly found on the face, neck, upper chest, and arms, they’re caused by the higher levels of estrogen in pregnancy, and they usually disappear after delivery.

I have an appointment today with my OB and she will let me know whether i am fit to travel to your mama’s wedding. Let’s hope for the best. Whatever is her decision, i will happily abide by it. Anything for you dear!

My strong baby!

Hello baby, moma is here again! You have been such a sport all this while. I went through cervical cerclage and you didn’t complain a bit dear. It was for your well being only so that i can hold you in my womb full term. I know you will soon face a scape crunch as you are growing rapidly but isn’t is cosy in there…

Your kicks have definitely become stronger and more frequent now as we have crossed the 20 week halfway milestone. Hurray!!! Now the back counting has started. Today you are 20 weeks 6 days old my munchkin. Moma is on bed rest till sunday and then lets see if we can move around a little. Doc says that for most women mobility increases after cerclage. Let’s pray for the best. I have so much shopping to do for you. I keep on surfing the Net for the things i would get for you. You know i have already shopped for some clothes for you - one baby suit, one bib, one pillow, one top and leggies and nappies too! But this is not enough, Just a start! We have to purchase your crib, changing table, bedding sets, toiletries, feeding bottles, stroller, car seat and so on. Your dad is also very excited about all this. Wait till i get on my feet again my dear! :)
